Information

The discipline of biomedical engineering has emerged as an integrating medium for two professions: Medicine and Engineering. Biomedical engineering applies engineering methods and technologies to health care.

Biomedical engineering includes the design, production, research, technical management, maintenance, and repair of therapeutic and diagnostic medical systems. In recent years, developments in applied sciences (chemistry, physics, engineering, microbiology, physiology, pharmacology, etc.) have caused changes in medical science.

Today the systems used in measurement and imaging (such as ECG, EMG, EEG, ultrasonic devices, CT, MR, PET) and the systems used for therapeutic purposes (such as radiotheraphy and laser devices) are the most popular biomedical systems.

The department started accepting students in the 2022-2023 academic year.

The department's mission is to prepare students as engineers responsible for the management of high-technology devices and systems used in modern hospitals, for the training of medical personnel to use such medical devices and equipment, and for the design, selection, and maintenance of these devices for safe and effective health-care services.

Department of Biomedical Engineering leading to an undergraduate degree started in 2022-202 academic year. 29 students are accepted to the program 2 Professors, 2 Assistant Professors, are currently working at the Department.

Although the content of the courses is Turkish, some courses are offered in English. All students must successfully complete English Language Requirements of English Preparatory School.
